Survey Results: Exploring Responsible AI in Learning Analytics and HESPA workshop slides
At the end of September 2024 the team, in collaboration with HESPA (Higher Education Strategic Planners Association) launched a questionnaire to gather information about the current status of the adoption and implementation of Learning Analytics systems in UK Higher Education Institutions. The survey was open for six weeks; we collected answers from 28 participants and we are now glad to present the summary of the findings.
The results were shared back with the sector during the Workshop: “Embedding Responsible AI in Learning Analytics: From Ethical Principles to Institutional Practice” at the HESPA virtual Conference and it is now available for the public.

Responsible AI Framework proposal V0.1
We introduce our Responsible AI (R-AI) framework tailored to Learning Analytics (LA) in Higher Education (HE).
The primary aim of this framework is to provide higher education institutions with actionable guidance on how to incorporate responsible AI principles effectively into their LA initiatives.
Recognising that institutions are at various stages of their LA adoption, we have structured the framework to follow the stages of the software development life-cycle: Requirements and Data Collection, Design, Development, Testing, Release, and Monitoring. By aligning the framework with these stages, we address a key limitation of many existing resources, allowing HEIs to engage with the specific stage of development they are currently in.
We welcome comments and feedback to continue growing and improving the R-AI Framework. Please find us in the team section.
