On Thursday 7th of November Professor Fernandez and Dr Paul Mulholland presented the FairAI4EdTech project to Debbie MacVitty, Editor of WonkHE, the digital platform and home of the Higher Education for those who work in the HE sector.
The meeting was the opportunity to share insights and latest outcomes of the Promoting Equity in HE project part of the Fairness Innovation Challenge delivered by the UK Government’s Department for Science, Innovation and Technology (DSIT), and Innovate UK, in partnership with the The Equality & Human Rights Commission (EHRC) and The Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO).
Miriam and Paul shared the motivation of our project, the importance of developing a Responsible AI (R-AI) framework tailored to Learning Analytics (LA) in Higher Education (HE) as a response to address bias and discrimination in Artificial Intelligence (AI) systems, specifically in the context of Higher Education (HE).
